Mitsubishi L200 Engine
2.2 litre turbo diesel engine
The L200 MIVEC Engine
A unique system developed by Mitsubishi
To give the engine its full title it’s a 2.2 Litre MIVEC 16-Valve intercooled turbocharged DOHC Common Rail Di-D High Power. Which is a bit of a mouthful! MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) is the name for the engines equipped with the variable valve timing mechanism developed by Mitsubishi Motors. We’ve been focussing on technologies that control valve timing because we realised it's the way to achieve high power output, low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions.
Engine Details – Intercooling
What is intercooled?
An intercooler is an intake air cooling device. It cools the air and increases the density of the air that is compressed by the turbocharger.
Engine Details – Fuel Injection
What is Common Rail?
Common rail is a direct fuel injection system for diesel engines. By injecting the fuel it makes the engine more efficient.
Six speeds give you total control of power delivery to match whatever driving conditions you're facing. The smooth stick action, shorter stroke and lighter clutch all make for an easier operation that's more like a car than a pickup truck.
6-speed automatic with Sport Mode
Thanks to optimised top gear ratios, fuel economy has been improved and engine quietness is outstanding even at high speed. And when you want total control, switch into Sport Mode and it feels like you’re driving a manual.
Change gear with your hands still on the wheel
Sporty paddle shifters let you shift gears with a just a gentle touch. So you don’t even have to remove your hand from the steering wheel.

Figures shown are for comparability purposes; only compare fuel consumption and CO₂ figures with other cars tested to the same technical procedures.
These figures may not reflect real life driving results, which will depend upon a number of factors including the accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load.
* There is a new test used for fuel consumption and CO₂ figures. The CO₂ figures shown however, are based on the outgoing test cycle and will be used to calculate vehicle tax on first registration.
