A unique system developed by Mitsubishi
To give the engine its full title it’s a 2.2 Litre MIVEC 16-Valve intercooled turbocharged DOHC Common Rail Di-D High Power. Which is a bit of a mouthful! MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) is the name for the engines equipped with the variable valve timing mechanism developed by Mitsubishi Motors. We’ve been focussing on technologies that control valve timing because we realised it's the way to achieve high power output, low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions.

An intercooler is an intake air cooling device. It cools the air and increases the density of the air that is compressed by the turbocharger.

What is Common Rail?
Common rail is a direct fuel injection system for diesel engines. By injecting the fuel it makes the engine more efficient.
