Mitsubishi Outlander Safety
The Outlander has both active and passive safety features protecting both driver and passengers.
Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)
Automatically alert traffic behind you
If something ahead causes you to brake suddenly, ESS automatically activates the hazard warning lamps to give traffic behind you a clear sign you're slowing down, reducing the chance of them hitting you.
Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
No more blind spots
This feature uses radar sensors to detect whether there are vehicles in your blind spots. If you're about to change lanes and the system detects something there, a light will blink in the door mirror on the side nearest to the hazard and a buzzer will sound. Available on Exceed only.
REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)
Reversing with confidence
If radar sensors in the rear bumper detect an approaching vehicle when the car is in reverse, a warning message appears on the multi-information display, a buzzer sounds and an indicator blinks in both door mirrors. Available on Exceed only.
Active Stability Control (ASC)
If you have a wobble, the car won’t
The Active Stability Control combines with the 4WD to offer even greater stability. If wheels lose their grip on slippery surfaces or while turning, the ASC automatically adjusts engine output and applies braking force at the appropriate wheels to help maintain control and stop you skidding.
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
No rolling backwards on hills
HSA makes it easier to start off on a steep uphill slope by preventing the vehicle from rolling backward. When it detects a gradient, it automatically maintains the brakes until you push the accelerator pedal.
RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) Body
A cabin with a protective shell
The Outlander is built using our advanced Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body. It strategically places reinforcements at critical points to help route and absorb energy in the event of a high impact collision. So you and your passengers are kept safe when you need it most.
Seven Airbag System
ISO-Fix Child Seat Mountings
It’s child proof
The Outlander has ISO-Fix child seat mountings in the second row of seating. So, you can fit two rear-facing child seats of any kind, comfortably – leaving you enough room for a booster seat in the third row. We even childproofed the Outlander's rear locks for your peace of mind.
