The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (2018 onwards)
Setting the stage for a new generation of Mitsubishi SUVs is the Eclipse Cross. This compact crossover SUV was first introduced at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
It was designed to make a bold statement: the muscular profile, dynamic alloy wheels and LED lighting create a sophisticated balance of sport and style that reflects its individuality. The Eclipse Cross brings the SUV forward into the modern age. It combines the latest styling design, with incredible driving dynamics and safety technology.
The car was called 'Eclipse' because we felt the beautiful, dynamic styling would bring about the same sense of excitement observers get during a solar total eclipse. We were also inspired by the light during an eclipse, so we developed a new high-saturation red body colour especially for this car. The Eclipse won RJC Car of the Year 2019, a competition run by the Automotive Researchers' & Journalists' Conference of Japan (RJC). It was also selected as a recipient of the Good Design Award 2018, by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
